If you are an online business owner (store owner, blogger, etc.) you know that Pinterest if your BREAD AND BUTTER, literally. If you don’t already know, you want to jump on the Pinterest bandwagon.
Pinterest is awesome for business for SO MANY reasons:
- Free opportunity to promote your brand
- An opportunity to grow a following of engaged customers
- An opportunity to interact and engage with users
- Collaboration opportunity with Pinterest group boards
This is just a handful of the benefits that Pinterest brings. I read everyday how Pinterest is the top traffic driver for so many blogs.
“Pinterest brings in 90% of my traffic.”
“Pinterest makes me money daily.”
“I love Pinterest!”
These are some of the things I hear and see every single day (the last one is mine, haha). I’m going to show you my secret tricks to growing my Pinterest following to over 5,000 in just 6 short months.
It was easy, it was inexpensive, and it only took an hour or two a week.
My secret sauce to growing my following from zero to 5,000 Pinterest followers in 6 months
1.) Professionalize (I just made that word up) your Pinterest account. This means completely filling it out with a personal photo, a keyword rich description, and at least 10 boards.
2.) Use Pinterest: Daily pinning is NECESSARY if you want to grow your following fast. You want to fill up your boards. Each board needs to have at least 10-20 pins (more is better)
3.) Automate for rapid growth: It’s a huge time suck to be plastered to Pinterest all day long, pinning til your hands fall off. Why not use some cool automation tools? I do! In fact, I use 2 automation tools: Boardbooster and Tailwind. I’ve used them separately but I really get the best outcome using both together. These automation tools allow you to set up a pinning schedule and save pins to that schedule ahead of time. You can set your schedule for a day at a time, a week at time, or longer.

My method: I usually hop on Tailwind and Boardbooster on Mondays. I spend about an hour setting up my entire schedule for the week. That’s it! Both have a free trial and VERY WORTH IT! Pinterest has brought me SO MUCH traffic and made me money! A total must: automation.
These 3 steps are really the meat and potatoes of what I do.
Here are some bonus tips to help you super succeed!
Tip 1:) Fill out your pin descriptions. Take advantage of the space provided and write a thorough, really awesome keyword rich description. Add your url to the end. Like this…
I usually write out my description and add my site like this..|drinkcoffeeandprosper.com
By doing this, you are giving the user another opportunity to head straight to your site.
Tip #2:) Group boards: Group boards are pretty cool because you get your pins seen by a larger audience. Say, you join a board with 100 contributors and a reach of 100,000 followers. When you pin your pin to that board, that entire audience gets to see your pin possibly. Too cool, right? To find relevant group boards in your niche, head over to Pingroupie (it’s free) and do a search for boards.
Tip #3:) Don’t be afraid to invest in a course. The Pinterest Strategy Guide is a guide that I invested in. It’s from a superblogger who earns $20K/month from her blog and gets hundreds of thousands of page views to her blog each month, mostly from Pinterest. Learning is growth and investing in yourself is a total must.
That’s pretty much yet. The big help is automation and I highly recommend group boards. With these two methods you can steadily increase your following by around 1,000 followers or so each and every month. Pretty cool.
